Highgate Ballet School's Pre-Vocational Performance Programmes

There are now 2 Pre-Vocational Performance Programmes at the school for ages 6-8, and ages 9-12 and 12+.

These programmes are designed to enhance a child's current dance training and give additional performance opportunities. They take place during term time and run for 10 weeks.

Each programme has been developed to provide high quality, non-syllabus classes in ballet, modern or contemporary dance, performance and associated disciplines, which complement a student's  existing training. For those dancers ages 9+ who are not currently attending full-time vocational school, these help fill in gaps in their technique, address core strength, flexibility and other issues. The classes enhance and develop musicality, artistry and build self esteem, confidence and self expression.

Highly specialised, non-syllabus, weekly technique classes are supplemented with performances, body conditioning and workshops in other genres such as GYROKINESIS, physical theatre, character, repertoire and mime.

The senior programme (ages12+) takes place on Friday nights, and non syllabus 'stretch and strengthen' classes take place on Thursday afternoons. The junior dancers programme for ages 9-12 takes place from 2.30-4.45pm on Saturday afternoons 

The courses aim to provide the highly specialised training and performance opportunities that students intending to audition for external programmes or full-time training need, in order to maximise their potential and prepare them as fully as possible  or for personal development to gain that added advantage when making application to any further education institution.
