Supported by Maddy Wynne-Jones' dance company Tempered Body www.temperedbody.com the Youth Dance Company will have the chance to work with established ballet and contemporary dancers and even perform alongside them !
Rehearsals
Intensive rehearsal periods will take place during the half-terms and holiday times. This will ensure full commitment without getting in the way of regular classes and academic work.
Commitment
Dancers wishing to be involved in the Youth Dance Company will have to prove their commitment. The company will be run with a professional dance company mentality and outlook. It is therefore necessary for every dancer in the company to be taking a minimum of two dance classes a week during regular term times, and at least one of these must be at Highgate Ballet school. No rehearsal period may missed without permission. If you are invited to join the company you will have to commit to the entire year, and be at every rehearsal period unless prior agreement has been arranged. Dancers will also be required to come to rehearsals ready to work hard and be dedicated to the process. Whether students are interested in a career in dance or not, the self discipline, motivation, and sense of accomplishment achieved through rehearsals and performing are invaluable to personal development; growth, technique and artistic awareness will be supported and nurtured by the company.
Auditions
We hold auditions regularly. To register, please contact Maddy on youthcompany@temperedbody.com. At the end of each academic year dancers places in the company will be assessed to determine whether they will be invited back. Dancers already attending Highgate Ballet School will not have to audition for the company, providing they meet the commitment criteria outlined above.

"Through the Youth Company of Highgate Ballet School, I believe in offering dedicated young dancers the opportunities to perform and rehearse, whilst nurturing artistry, creative input, technical excellence, and the basis from which a sense of the professional world of dance may be cultivated. Whether students are interested in a career in dance or not, the self discipline, motivation, and sense of accomplishment achieved through rehearsals and performing are invaluable to the development of young people." - Maddy Wynne-Jones
Maddy would like to run flamenco dance workshops at the school, for example, during the half term or in the holidays. If you are interested, let me know and we will organise them !
