Performances and Coaching

Performances

All our dancers in Primary and above have the opportunity to dance in a bi-yearly summer showcase which for several years has taken place at the Arundel Centre, Channing School, N6, a 5 minute walk from Highgate Ballet School. In alternate years the summer showcase is a ‘watch week plus more’ at the URC at the end of the summer term.

In mid – December the chapel at the URC is transformed into a performance space for our annual charity performance of The Nutcracker and other Suite Things.

Over the years dancers have also taken part in many performances in and outside of the school for example at the local nursing Home, as part of U-Dance at the Festival Hall, at the V&A, with the HBS Youth Dance Company,  and with the Philippian Players, N3 in their annual pantomime.

Young dancers are also encouraged to develop their own choreography supported annually in the spring, by the Cecchetti Choreographic Competition.

Dancers who are eligible take part in the annual Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards, nicknamed the ‘Mabel Ryans’ which is a children’s ballet competition recognising excellence in ballet training in the Cecchetti Method from Grades 3 and up. Advanced Level students who are eligible can take part in the annual Cecchetti Fewster and Geoghegan Awards.

 

Coaching

Dancers who are looking to audition for external programmes, vocational schools or take part in ballet competitions are encouraged to attend coaching in small groups or 1:2:1 sessions which can be arranged with our teachers at times to suit them.
